![]() ![]() ![]() Emilie's poetry, written in her teens, has been used as the basis for original works created and performed by New York's Rochester Ballet Company, using her spoken-word and classical violin work as the score.Įmilie originally intended to begin and end her career as a classical soloist and composer, but gradually became aware that, in order to express herself completely, she must use her voice as well as her fingers. Known for her genre-bending albums Opheliac and Fight Like A Girl, Emilie has also starred in The Devil’s Carnival musical fantasy film series (alongside Adam Pascal of Broadway’s RENT fame, and Ted Neeley of the iconic film Jesus Christ Superstar).Įmilie’s academic career ended abruptly at the age of ten when, as a child-prodigy violinist, she was removed from school to allow her the time to perfect her craft. Yet, despite her near-complete absence of formal education, her debut self-published novel ( The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls) is cited in text-books used as part of the psychology curriculum at Oxford University, amongst other publications. Internationally recognized as a world-class violinist, singer, composer, author, actor, and artist, Emilie Autumn mastered the classical violin before going on to travel the world as a highly theatrical performer. If you haven’t, do see below…I didn’t write the text, but it gives a vaguely good idea of what’s going on here. We’ve been kept from the light, no one ever gave a damn How to be turn our prison to a sanctuary? How do we bear this burden, far too much to carry? How do I get these memories out of my fucking head? We’ve lost so much, so many of those we love are dead I’m nothing but a number, here we are all the same I used to have a home, now I don’t even have a name We’ve been committed - now to what do we all commit? Now that we have it, how will we make use of it? We don’t know freedom, not quite sure that we ever did I’ve been in chains since I was nothing but a kid In front of the one foot in front of the other foot How do we move beyond all of this misery? How do we change our world to what we want it to be? We’ve fought hard not to die, yet we don’t know how to live We never will forget, and no, we will not forgive Is nothing but a list of pain and suffering? How did I come to this, where every song I sing How did I end up with this deadly home address? ![]()
